Yankees shortstop Mariano Rivera was asked about A-rod’s comments about hitting the ball over the fence, the outfield wall, and the home plate.
“I’m going to keep working,” Rivera said.
“And if I can hit that ball over that fence, I’ll keep working.
It’s a goal for me, I don’t have any more excuses.”
Rivera was the Yankees’ first baseman in all five games last season, and he played in each of their 10 postseason games.
He said he’s not worried about being overshadowed by the Yankees, the best team in the National League.
“No,” Rivera told reporters.
“We’re going to have the same mindset.
As long as we’re winning, that’s all that matters.”
